The Inspired Art Project enlists local artists to create and donate original works, inspired by original poetry written by the poet-athletes of America SCORES New York’s after school program.
Through this cycle of inspiration and influence
- students will witness their creativity brought to life,
- artists will build connections with diverse communities around the city, and
- SCORES’ supporters will see the profound impact these youths’ words can have on others.
Artwork will be displayed alongside the original poem and auctioned at a fund-raising event on April 27th at Sky Room. Proceeds from the Inspired Art Auction will directly benefit SCORES, providing free, creative writing and soccer after-school programming to public school students in Harlem.
How to get involved:
As an artist: Artists were invited to choose one inspiration from selected poems of SCORES young poet-athletes. Artists can then create and donate an original work (or submit a previously completed piece) inspired by that poem. A variety of mediums of interpretation are welcome, including painting, photography, sculptors, digital print, jewelry, etc.
Works will be displayed alongside the original poem and sold at the Inspired Art event. America SCORES New York is a 501(c)3 and artists donations may be tax-deductible. Each donated piece will also be photographed and complied in a graphic collection of SCORES art and imagery.
As a sponsor: Support us by sponsoring the venue, food, drink or other event elements, such as gift bag items. Sponsors will receive complimentary ticket packages, promotional signage at event, recognition in the event program, and a private viewing opportunity.
